BAPTISM

What do we believe about baptism?

Jesus commanded all his followers to be baptized by immersion as a public rite of passage. FBD practices believers' baptism. We do not baptize infants but rather baptize those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior by faith. We do not believe baptism saves but instead proclaims one's faith in Jesus by this public act of obedience, symbolizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.

Why is it important to be baptized?

As followers of Jesus, we need to obey His commands. Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This public act marks one as a follower of Jesus. It demonstrates to all one's willingness to live for Jesus.

What is the process of baptism?

Those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and who desire to be baptized can decide to follow Jesus publicly at the close of morning worship during the response time or reach out to one of the church's pastors to discuss their decision. The baptism will be scheduled in coordination with the pastoral team.

Do you have to be baptized during the worship service?

No, our pastoral team can coordinate a baptism in other locations like lakes, streams, and swimming pools. The baptism must publicly celebrate the believer's decision to follow Jesus.
