CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Why do we believe becoming a church member is important?

One thing that everyone needs is a community of people to celebrate with when times are great, and lean on when times are hard. We believe that church membership is the best way to create an environment that fosters consistency and community. It also allows for a deeper level of expressed commitment to fellow believers and an outward expression of faith that strengthens your relationship with God.

What does the Joining Process Look Like?

All Church members follow Jesus and have accepted him as their Lord and Savior. As a public expression of their faith, the members have experienced believers baptism by immersion at some point in their spiritual journey. We have a few ways you can join the church.

ARE YOU READY TO BECOME A MEMBER?

Most new members join by coming forward during a response time. However, the pastor and pastoral team can explore other ways of joining with those interested. All new members either take the Next Steps class or have a private meeting with the pastor to explore membership in the church.

As you continue the journey with First Decatur, we encourage you to take the New Member Orientation "Next Steps" Class for prospective and new members. The class is usually held once a quarter in the Office Conference Room.
