We believe that the best disciple-maker for children is a parent who is living out their faith. Join us for a 6-week study on how parents can make positive steps in their child’s faith journey.
This group will be lead by our Associate Pastor, John Hogan, and will be held in Room 102 of our Education Building.
Becoming a disciple is a process, a marathon, and not a sprint. This 6-week class teaches the spiritual habits and keys growing closer to and in a relationship with Jesus.
This group will be led by Mark Quinton and will meet in Room 117 of our Education Building.
God calls us to vocations where we can take our faith and witness into our areas of work. God wants our Christian life to be a part of our work life. Join us for a six-week practical study of how to find joy in our work, purpose during the week, and the Kingdom impact that can be made as a follower of Jesus.
This group will be led by Shawn Hutchinson and Will Kilgo and will be in Room 201 in our Kids’ Ministry Building.

LifeStages: First Baptist Church Decatur has intentionally designed each Bible Study to meet people’s needs based on where they currently are in life. We understand that life is dynamic, and each stage presents new challenges. Our group members understand because they are right there with you! Check out one of our groups; if it’s not the “right fit” for you, please feel free to be our guest in another group. We have a place for you!

Our LifeStage 2 Sunday Morning Bible Studies offer support, encouragement, and resources to help you navigate these foundational years. Whether you're looking for guidance, connection, or simply a place to share life with other parents, we’re here to walk alongside you as you build a strong spiritual foundation for your family.

Life can seem highly accelerated when your kids are in junior high, high school, and college. Helping them to grow and discover God’s plan for their lives takes intentionality and prayer while you stay spiritually connected to God. LifeStage 3 Sunday Morning Bible Studies offer a place for you to rest and grow in His Word, pray for your children and one another, and walk through some of these most enjoyable, challenging, and formidable years together. We want you to know that you are not alone and that staying connected to God, His Word, and others is essential.

Maturing in Christ continues even after the kids are out of the house, grandchildren have become a recent joy, or life as a retiree has become the new norm. LifeStage 4 Sunday Morning Bible Studies continue to grow and equip middle and senior-aged adults in their faith journey. Some of your most fruitful joys and blessings as a Believer happen at this stage of life, where relationships and life can be enjoyed together.

As a multi-generational church, we grow and learn from decades of experiences, gleaning wisdom, knowledge, and insight from one another – both young and old. LifeStage 5 Sunday Morning Bible Studies allow us to share stories about what God has done in the past so that we may receive hope, guidance, and encouragement for the future. Our multi-generational classes are designed to share life as we grow together in Christ.
Our kids and youth are broken into groups by age and grade. Check them into the kids or youth building, and someone will help you get them to their class.

J-Walkers
For young singles or married couples eager to help others grow in their walk with Jesus. Through engaging Bible studies in a relaxed, casual setting, this class provides an encouraging space to deepen your faith and connect with others.

Melting Pot
For couples focused on seeking biblical direction and understanding the world in the context of marriage and parenting. The core of teaching revolves around a variety of Biblical topics that will prepare you for the challenges and adventures of life.

Hutchinson’s Class
For parents navigating the grade school and middle school years. Whether they are parenting, co-parenting, or supporting children in their care, this group provides practical, biblical teaching and a space to connect with others on a similar journey. It offers encouragement, fellowship, and meaningful conversations as participants grow together in faith and community.

Brashier’s Class
For established parents or couples with preschool and elementary-aged children, this class provides a Christ-centered community where families can grow together in faith. As they navigate the joys and challenges of modern family life—parenting, marriage, work, and more—this group offers encouragement, support, and practical biblical wisdom to help them thrive.

Family Matters
For parents of middle and high school-aged children, this class is focused on developing relationships with one another that facilitate caring, encouragement, spiritual growth, and the sharing of practical advice. With these tools, they seek to impact the next generation and create future spirit-filled leaders.

Faith and Friends
For new or longtime empty nesters, this fun-loving group of people truly enjoy the time spent together studying, sharing, relaxing, and savoring the moment. Through fellowship and thoughtful discussions, they find joy, growth, and encouragement in their faith journey.

Hogan’s Class
For those with current high school and college students, empty nesters, and those who are experiencing the joy of being grandparents, this group of believers is engaging in the Word, applying it to their lives, and building their relationship with God and one another. They share life together, celebrating victories and ministering to the needs of both those inside and outside of their circle.
