Day 2

God is OMnipotent

“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you!”

Jeremiah 32:17

Jeremiah was a man who loved God deeply and remained faithful to Him despite immense hardship, rejection, and at times, doubt. Through persecution and pain, Jeremiah proclaimed one of God’s greatest attributes—His omnipotence. God is all-powerful, unlimited in strength, faithful to His Word, and unchanging in His ability to do what seems impossible.

In November 2017, our family entered into a very difficult season. At 37 weeks pregnant, our two-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer. Five days later, our third child was born.

I remember sitting with our research nurse, overwhelmed, and saying, “I wish this were all a dream.” My husband, through God’s wisdom and comfort, gently replied, “I don’t.” Confused, I wondered how he could not want to take this from our son.He then proceeded to explain, “We’ve always asked God to use our family for His Kingdom—what a powerful testimony our family will have.”

In that moment, the peace of God that surpasses all understanding swept over me (Philippians 4:7). My husband was right. We had prayed for God to use our lives for His glory. Now it was time to trust Him fully and walk this season well, so we would not hinder His work He wanted to do in and through us.

That journey brought countless tears, hospital stays, medicine, and exhaustion. Yet through it all came laughter, joy, strength, perseverance, and a deep awe of God’s mighty power. We saw His hand in every detail—healing, provision, protection, peace, and so much more.

Six months after our son’s last treatment, my husband suffered severe burns in an accident. Later, both our youngest child and I faced hospital stays of our own. Each time we thought the storm was ending, another wave came. I remember weeping and “waving the white flag,” surrendering to the weight of it all.

Yet through every trial, God never changed. The same God who created the heavens and the earth was present in every moment. He was there in the doctor’s office, in the hospital room, and in the quiet moments when fear tried to take root. His power was—and still is—constantly at work, both in what we could see and in what we could not.

Through it all, we were reminded that “nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). Gratitude became our anchor. Even in pain, we saw God accomplish “infinitely more than we might ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).

When we fix our eyes on Jesus, “the author and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2), our hearts are filled with awe and reverence for His greatness. He is El Shaddai—the all-powerful, all-sufficient God. His strength is perfect, His timing divine, and His power limitless.

FURTHER REFLECTION:

  • Where in your life right now do you need to be reminded that “nothing is impossible with God? How can you invite Him to show His unlimited power in that situation?

  • When have you experienced God’s strength in your weakness? Reflect on how His power sustained you through a season of uncertainty or suffering (2 Corinthians 12:9–10).

  • How can recognizing God’s omnipotence shape your response to trials? Instead of asking “Why me?”, what might it look like to ask, “How can God use this for my good and His glory?”

PRAYER: God, You are an amazing God. Your power is unlimited. Thank You for who You are. Thank You for how You work, always for our good and Your glory. Thank You that You are the same God yesterday, today, and always, and that we can count on Your omnipotence and faithfulness, and that You will never fail. Please, Lord, forgive us, as we struggle in our flesh, to keep our eyes fixed on You and remember how incredible You are. Please help us always to remember how amazing, mighty, and powerful You are, especially when life feels impossible. Please remind us that You are greater than every fear, every diagnosis, and every trial of this life. Please, Lord, help us to rest in Your strength and trust Your plan. Please help us to share Your mighty power and works, in Your love, with those around us. Please help us to walk our hard seasons well, so that we don’t hinder the work You want to do in and through us. We love You, Lord. In Christ’s amazing and precious name, we pray these things, Amen.
