Day 10

God is Good

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalm 100:5

Growing up, my pastor would always say, “God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good.” Those words are easy to proclaim when life is going well, and blessings are overflowing. But what about when we walk through the valley of loss, grief, or disappointment? What about when the diagnosis comes, or our prayers seem unanswered? Is God still good then?

The answer from Scripture is a resounding YES! Psalm 100:5 tells us that God’s goodness, love, and faithfulness are not dependent on our circumstances. They are eternal, woven into His very nature. His character never changes. His love is not fragile or fleeting; it is eternal and unshakeable. Even when our hearts ache, His love remains steady. Even when life shifts, His promises never falter.

I’ve seen this truth in my own life and in the lives of others. Families who have endured heartbreaking loss still testify, “God carried us.” Friends walking through deep sorrow have proclaimed that in their darkest moments, they felt His presence more closely than ever before. Generation after generation, we can trace the fingerprints of His faithfulness. He is always guiding, sustaining, redeeming, and restoring.

Like the prodigal son’s father who ran to embrace his child, our God runs toward us with unchanging love. He doesn’t wait for us to have it all together. His love meets us right where we are with open arms. That is the kind of goodness that never fails.

God’s goodness doesn’t mean we won’t face hardship or that life will be all roses and sunshine. It does mean, however, that He will meet us in it. He will be with us. His presence brings peace when life doesn’t make sense. His faithfulness stretches beyond our lifetime, touching the past, present, and future. The evidence of His goodness is endless. That’s why we can keep proclaiming it - through tears, through laughter, through everything. God is good all the time. And all the time, God is good. We can always trust in His goodness.

FURTHER REFLECTION:

  • Take a few moments to look back over your own life. Think about how His steadfast love has carried you through difficult seasons. Where can you see His hand at work, carrying you, protecting you, providing for you? Write it down or share that story with someone as a way of testifying to His goodness. It may be the encouragement and reminder that they need to hear today.

PRAYER:

Jesus, thank You for Your goodness. Thank You that You are not surprised or shaken by my circumstances. When I feel the weight of loss or uncertainty, remind me of Your love that endures forever and Your faithfulness that spans all generations. Teach me to look for evidence of Your goodness in every season and to trust that You are working even when I cannot see it. May my life proclaim with confidence and joy that YOU ARE GOOD ALL THE TIME. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
